Memorial Day

With so much changing in my life right now I am finding it difficult to take the time to post often. Son will be leaving for the Anchorage Alaska Mission on June 1 (Today!) and the Mister will finally be able to move back to California. One leaves, one returns . . . good thing Sadie has no plans for travel.

My sweet nieces and their parents came to visit this weekend, they took Sadie on a walk for me and send me this great picture. I'm so thankful for family!

Family Picture

With my son on his way out to serve a two year mission and my husband traveling so much for work, I was nervous that we would not have a time that all of us were together for family pictures. Fortunately we were all in town this weekend and my lovely cousin, Melissa of MD Photography graciously came to our home to snap a few quick pictures.

Walks

Every evening Sadie and I walk about 3 miles, we start by walking down to Prospect Park which is a beautiful beautiful park adjacent to the Kimberly Crest Mansion. Every chance Sadie gets, she likes to walk along the curb . . . in the park there are garden walls that she loves to jump onto and then walk along.

No Dogs on the Table!

The other day I walked by our dining room table and I could not figure out why the place mats were on the floor. I picked them up and placed them neatly on the table and walked away. The next time I walked by the table, this is what I saw:
It's a good thing she is so cute!

Fetch!

Last week I discovered that Sadie can fetch, I was so happy! I randomly picked up a package of small dog squeaky balls at Target last time I was there, not sure why, I guess I was just looking for a change.

Realistically, I figured Sadie might like to chew on them, I was surprised when I took the balls out of the bag and Sadie got excited. Her tail was wagging and she was doing her little "puppy dance" - her reaction made me smile.

I immediately gave her a ball to sniff for a few seconds and then tossed it down the hallway to see if she knew what to do. . .

Bunny the Cuddle Friend

I am surprised at how difficult it is for me to choose a toy for Sadie. I never thought I would need to consider what a dog might enjoy the most . . . I found this great un-stuffed rabbit at Target when I went to pick up Sadie's weekly supply of FreshPet. Surprisingly, I felt a little pressure to make sure the toy I chose was "the perfect toy". Would she like a fetch, a tug or an occupy? Who knew there were categories of dog toys?  I settled on this Boots & Barkley Cuddle & Toss Rabbit, which might be a little big for Sadie but she is enjoying it regardless!

Last night while I was making dinner, I kept hearing a little squeak toy in the other room. When I went to investigate I saw that Sadie had discovered that the hands and feet of the rabbit have a squeak mechanism. She entertained herself for several minutes with the squeaking.

Let's Go!

Sadie loves to be in the car and she is very comfortable riding along anytime she's invited.

When it's time to get out of the car, there is usually a game of "who is smarter" in trying to coax her out. She will move from seat to seat in an effort to avoid being picked up and removed from the car.

I love our happy, car riding dog - she is very sweet.
